
Adrienne Cohen is a doctoral student in Sociocultural Anthropology at Yale University. Her work focuses on dance, music, and political economy in Guinea, West Africa. In 2011 she received a National Science Foundation award for pre-dissertation fieldwork. Her dissertation addresses Guinean dance and interrelationships between performance and socialist/post-socialist political transformations.
Joshua Cohen earned a B.A. in English from Vassar College in 2000 and received a Fulbright grant for research in the Republic of Guinea in 2003-04. Currently a Ph.D. candidate in art history at Columbia University, his areas of specialization include African/European exchanges in modern painting, francophone West African staged performance, museum studies, and contemporary African art.
