The Make Art with Purpose Sylvia Hougland Emerging Artist Fund supports the work of an emerging artist age 37 or under with a $1500 grant for project based work that addresses a social or environmental theme. One grant will be awarded per year.

Make Art with Purpose (MAP) seeks artists who demonstrate excellence in their work, a commitment to their careers and communities and are addressing a social and or environmental concern.

MAP defines "emerging" as those early in their artistic careers, age 37 or under, at the application deadline. These artists demonstrate potential in their practice through risk-taking and pushing their work in dynamic ways, and are not yet considered well established professionally by indicators such as major gallery representation, significant exhibition history, awards and commissions, or sustaining an income derived solely from art sales. The funds may be used to support a new project or a project that is already underway.

Applicants must be residents of the United States or US Territories.
